About Stay Home Because You’re Well Day
Stay home because you are well day was created by the couple, Thomas and Ruth Roy, so that people call into work “well” and don’t fake illness to get out of work.
The aim of this holiday is to stop for a second, disconnect from work and its problems, and also relax and see where you are currently in your life.
This holiday has now been superseded by the concept of 'duvet days', which some employers allow. Also, the increase in home working, means this is an option if you simply want to avoid the commute today.
If you do decide to honor this holiday, make sure it is fine with your employer and that your work situation can cope with you taking this day off without long-term or short-term consequences happening because of this event.
