About Join Hands Day
Join Hands Day is the first Saturday in May. It is a national volunteer day and an annual event sponsored by the American Fraternal Alliance.
The day was launched by what was then called America's Fraternal Benefit Societies in 2000, in partnership with Points of Light Foundation. It is meant to have a focus not just on volunteering, but also on developing youth and adult relationships.
The American Fraternal Alliance*, formed in 1886, unites the not-for-profit fraternal benefit societies operating in 50 states, the District of Columbia and Canada. Alliance member societies represent more than 7 million individuals, making it one of America’s largest member-volunteer networks.
