National Sprout Day honors the memory of Steve âThe Sproutmanâ Meyerowitz, whose birthday falls on JulyâŻ23rd. Meyerowitz dedicated over 40 years to educating people about sprouting, nutrition, and selfâsufficiency.
The tradition of sprouting isnât new. Ancient cultures in China, India, Africa, Europe and beyond used sprouted grains and legumes for thousands of years, recognizing their health and culinary value.
