About National Columnists Day
Ernest Pyle was a Pulitzer Prize-winning American journalist and war correspondent best known for his stories about ordinary American soldiers during World War II.
Pyle died on April 18th 1945 and in 1995, on the 50th anniversary of Pyle’s death, The National Society of Newspaper Columnists marked the day for the first time. The society continues to honor the day each year.
