Summary
International Day of University Sport (IDUS) is celebrated on 20 September and was officially proclaimed by the United Nations Education, Science and Culture Organisation (UNESCO).

By putting sport at the heart of dialogue between teachers and students, the International Day of University Sport, celebrated by UNESCO and the International University Sports Federation, aims to promote these values among young adults and, through them, to society as a whole.

As stated by Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO: "When practiced in peer groups within the framework of the university . . . Sport is for young people, at a critical time in their lives, a formidable tool for individual and collective development. It promotes values as essential as fair play, respect, team spirit, responsibility and perseverance, and enriches in an inspiring way the students' disciplines."

Starting in 2016, this day takes place annually on September 20th.
