About National Read Across America Day (Dr. Seuss Day)
Read Across America was established by the National Education Association, a professional employee organization committed to advancing public education, in 1998 to motivate “children and teens to read through events, partnerships and reading resources that are about everyone, for everyone.”
National Read Across America Day is observed on March 2nd, the birthday of beloved children’s book author Dr. Seuss. If March 2nd falls on a weekend, it moves to the closest school day
Theodor Seuss "Ted" Geisel was an American children's author, political cartoonist, illustrator, poet, animator, screenwriter, and filmmaker. He was born on March 2nd 1904 and is known for his work writing and illustrating more than 60 books under the pen name Dr. Seuss
