Buddy the Elf was played by Will Ferrell in the now-classic 2003 Christmas movie Elf
In the movie, he answers the phone with "Buddy the Elf, what's your favorite color?" You could do that at work, but if the fear of getting sacked just before Christmas is too much, then maybe just wear something green when answering the phone will still be entering into the spirit of the day.
