About National Pet Shop Day
Observed across the UK since its launch in 2024, National Pet Shop Day is a special one-day celebration dedicated to honouring the small, independent pet shops that form the heart of our local communities. Organised by Johnson’s Veterinary Products, and championed by the Pet Industry Federation (PIF) and the British Independent Retail Association (Bira). This day highlights their vital role in pet care and community spirit.

Local pet shops are far more than mere retailers – they are hubs of knowledge, care, and community. From offering expert advice on everyday concerns like fleas, ticks, or nutrition, to fostering personal connections with pet owners, these venues offer something no big chain can replicate.
Did you know? Over 200 pet shops participated in the inaugural National Pet Shop Day in July 2024, welcoming pet owners with giveaways, expert sessions, and fun community activities.
