Carl Garner Federal Lands Cleanup Day is observed in the United States to empower cross country resident participation in the cleanup of government lands.

It happens on the first Saturday after Labor Day and may incorporate a variety of programs, activities, and ceremonies. It was started in 1985 by the Federal Lands Cleanup Act as the “Federal Lands National Cleanup Day” and renamed in 1995 to honor Carl Garner to honor his work of urging residents to clean up Greers Ferry Lake and Little Red River in Arkansas.

Garner started the first annual lakeshore cleanup program in 1970. His program was nationally acclaimed and he received the Keep America Beautiful Award twice.
